Our province is growing and so is our demand for electricity. BC Transmission Corporation (BCTC) is building to ensure British Columbians have the electricity they need today and in the future.
The Vancouver Island Transmission Reinforcement (VITR) project will ensure the 700,000 residents and businesses of Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands continue to enjoy the benefits of safe, clean and reliable electricity. The VITR Project was fully energized in late December 2008.
This online source is designed to provide you and your neighbours with the facts and access to up-to-date information about this much-needed improvement to our electricity infrastructure.

FOR THE RECORD
-
"I've been following this thing for my 35 years in public health and there is no real danger. Everybody then says, 'Let's use the precautionary principle,'but ... after all these studies, nobody's been able to find anything.
You get tired of people telling you to use the precautionary principle. People need electricity. We actually live our lives on electricity, so electricity isn't the big evil thing that people want to make it out to be."

"You can't live with electricity and not have power lines. So, yes you need the right of ways, yes, we try to protect it. They are not causing a problem."
